PSY 4215 - Substance-Abuse Treatment This course will explore assessment of substance abuse, therapeutic approaches, and supportive aftercare for those dealing with drug and/or alcohol addiction. Students will learn about definitions of “addiction”; the effects and consequences of drug, alcohol, and tobacco use; theories and models of drug and/or alcohol use and dependency; and models of treatment for a diverse range of clients. The course is designed to increase students’ understanding of best practices in the treatment of substance-abuse disorders.
Prerequisites & Notes The prerequisite is PSY 1130 and sophomore standing. This course is offered every spring.
