Program Mission Statement
The Explorations Program supports first-year students and sophomores who are actively investigating a variety of undergraduate majors and subsequent career options. As students take electives and required General Education courses in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, their assumptions about learning, life, and careers are challenged. This program supports their efforts at exploration by providing opportunities for them to learn about different majors and academic and career paths
Common Program Goals
Students will:
- Choose from a wide-range of courses the first year while checking out various fields of interest and gaining Gen Ed credit.
- Work with an Explorations Mentor to choose courses, to explore interests and possible career paths, and ultimately to assist in the student’s choice of a major.
- Meet with other Explorations students to discuss interests and experiences.
- Visit with various LSC Departments and faculty about their offerings.
- Work with career professionals to help choose a career path.
