OEL 1150 - Fundamentals of Backcountry Skiing and Riding Credit(s): 1
This course is designed as an introduction to the sport of backcountry ski touring and split boarding. Course content will include the theory and methodology of skiing techniques, physical preparation and training for the activity, equipment requirements, proper selection and sizing of equipment, techniques and skills specific to backcountry skiing, and most importantly, practice.
Offering Location: Lyndon Campus
Notes: Students will partake in a number of off-campus field trips. There is a course fee.
