PSY 4250 - Animal Behavior & Psychology Credit(s): 3
This course will explore scientific evidence for behaviors and psychological processes present in nonhuman animals including elephants, dolphins, dogs, and nonhuman primates. Evidence is reviewed regarding whether animals are socially aware, have specific personality characteristics, create and sustain cultures, can understand humans, can differentiate self from others, use tools, have object permanence, use imitation, distinguish friends from foes, and can think about thinking (metacognition) - as well as how psychological scientists measure and interpret such effects.
Prerequisites: PSY 1010
Restrictions: Junior standing.
