CHE 2020 - Introduction to Environmental Chemistry This course is designed to present essential concepts in chemistry, to provide a foundation for a deeper understanding of the chemical processes that occur in the natural world, and to provide background for a deeper understanding of the earth sciences, biological sciences, and environmental sciences. Topics covered include properties of matter, making measurements, dimensional analysis, atomic structure, the periodic table, periodic properties of elements, selected types of chemical reactions, writing and balancing chemical equations, expressing concentration, the structure and properties of water, the structure and properties of selected organic molecules, energy changes in chemical and physical processes, rates of chemical reactions, nuclear decay, and chemical equilibrium.
Prerequisites & Notes The prerequisite is MAT 1020. There is a lab fee. This course is offered every spring.
